Barcelona Blues

A few posts back, I mentioned my insatiable wanderlust that was preoccupying every iota of my being, and the frustration at not being able to travel anywhere in the immediate time-frame was ever-increasing.

Thankfully, said wanderlust has subsided quite happily, as I popped over to Barcelona in Spain for 3 days over the Easter break. My friends and I flew in to 21C heat and it was a welcome change from the rainy England mere hours before. Staying in the Montjuic area was brilliant, it was perfect to get a bit of peace and quiet away from the centre of town and resulted in a pretty extensive knowledge of the public transport in Barcelona.

The Sagrada Familia is a must-see if you take an interest in architecture - it is so interesting to see the building progress. However, the difference between the original Gaudi architecture and the modern additions to the building is painstakingly obvious - if anything, this just makes it even more worthwhile to visit. Another architectural masterpiece is the Cathedral; situated in the Old Town, it is flanked by beautiful buildings and the interior is even more breathtaking. These two are a must-see!

Other activities included walking down Las Ramblas, a quick trip to the beach and tapas aplenty - but I'll let this video show you the best bits of my time in Barcelona.
